Concrete Pool Decks
A well-built concrete pool deck gives you a safe, slip-resistant surface around your pool that handles Laredo summers, chlorine, and everyday foot traffic without falling apart.

Your Pool Area Deserves a Surface That Handles the Heat and the Water
In Laredo, your pool is not just a backyard feature. It is where your family spends months of the year. The surface surrounding that pool takes a beating from UV rays, water exposure, bare feet, and pool chemicals every single day. If that surface is cracked, rough, or slippery when wet, it is both uncomfortable and dangerous.
Premier Laredo Concrete Contractor installs new concrete pool decks and resurfaces existing ones for residential and commercial properties throughout the Laredo area. We build with the right concrete mix, the right finish texture, and the right slope to keep water draining away from the pool coping and the surrounding areas.
If you want more than a plain broom finish, we also offer decorative options. For a full outdoor upgrade, ask about pairing your pool deck with a new concrete patio installation to create one cohesive outdoor living space.
Pool Deck Finish Options to Match Your Style and Budget
You have more choices than plain gray concrete. Here is a look at the finish options we offer for pool decks and what each one gives you.
- Broom finish: The most common and most affordable option. A broom is dragged across the wet surface to create a textured, slip-resistant finish. Clean, classic, and easy to maintain.
- Exposed aggregate: The top layer of cement paste is washed away before it fully cures, revealing the stone aggregate below. Provides natural texture and a decorative look that does not get slippery when wet.
- Salt finish: Rock salt is pressed into the wet concrete surface and then washed out, leaving shallow pits that create a subtle texture. Popular for pool decks because it stays cooler underfoot and has a natural, rustic look.
- Stamped concrete: Patterns pressed into the surface can mimic stone, tile, or wood planking. Adds curb appeal and a custom look. Requires a sealer to protect the surface from water and UV exposure.
- Spray texture or cool deck coating: A thin cementitious coating sprayed over a new or existing slab. Reduces surface temperature by reflecting heat, which is a real benefit in the Laredo sun. Available in multiple colors.
- Concrete resurfacing: If your existing pool deck is structurally sound but worn or stained, resurfacing applies a new layer over the top without full replacement. Restores the look and function for less money.
What Goes Into a Pool Deck That Lasts
Pool decks deal with more stress than most concrete surfaces. Here is what we focus on during every pool deck installation to make sure yours holds up for years.
Proper drainage slope
Every pool deck should slope away from the pool coping at about 1/8 inch per foot. This keeps water moving away from the pool edge and prevents it from sitting on the surface.
Expansion and control joints
Concrete expands and contracts with temperature changes. Properly placed control joints give the slab a designated place to crack so it does not crack randomly across the surface.
Concrete mix design
Pool decks need a mix with the right water-to-cement ratio to resist moisture penetration. A slab that absorbs too much water from splashing and rain will deteriorate faster.
Coping clearance
The deck surface needs to meet the pool coping at the right height and with a proper gap so water drains into the pool or away from the structure, not underneath the slab.
Subbase preparation
Like any concrete work, the base under a pool deck has to be compacted and stable. Soft or settled soil under a pool deck causes the same cracking and settling problems as anywhere else.
Slip resistance
Wet feet on a smooth concrete surface are a recipe for injury. Every finish we apply to a pool deck is chosen or textured specifically for safe traction when wet.
