Garage Floors (Epoxy & Coatings)
Turn your plain gray garage floor into a clean, durable, showroom-quality surface that is easy to maintain and built to handle years of vehicle traffic, spills, and daily use.

Your Garage Floor Deserves More Than Bare Concrete
A bare concrete garage floor stains easily, absorbs oil and chemicals, produces concrete dust, and chips over time. Once it starts to pit and flake, it only looks worse year after year. Cleaning it is a constant battle, and no matter how much you sweep, the dust comes right back.
An epoxy or polyurea floor coating changes all of that. It bonds directly to the concrete surface, creates a hard protective layer that resists oil, gasoline, water, and chemicals, and turns your garage into a clean, bright space that is easy to wipe down after a project.
Premier Laredo Concrete Contractor installs garage floor coatings for residential and commercial properties throughout Laredo, TX. Before we apply any coating, we prepare the concrete surface properly so the coating bonds correctly and does not peel. We also handle concrete slab repair if your floor has cracks or damage that need to be fixed before coating.
Garage Floor Coating Options We Install
Not all floor coatings are the same. Here is a breakdown of the options we offer so you can pick the one that fits your needs and budget.
- Epoxy coating: A two-part liquid system that chemically bonds to the concrete surface and cures to a hard, glossy finish. Excellent chemical and stain resistance. Best for garages with moderate to heavy traffic and a tight budget.
- Polyurea coating: A more flexible and durable alternative to standard epoxy. Polyurea cures faster, handles temperature changes better, and resists hot tire pickup. This is the preferred system for most residential garages in the Laredo area where summer heat is a real factor.
- Flake or chip broadcast system: Colored vinyl flakes are broadcast into the wet base coat and then sealed with a clear topcoat. This hides imperfections in the slab, adds texture for slip resistance, and gives the floor a decorative look.
- Solid color coating: A clean, uniform finish in a single color. Common in commercial settings or garages where a minimal, professional look is preferred over a decorative finish.
- Metallic epoxy: A base coat mixed with metallic pigments that creates a swirling, three-dimensional appearance when spread. Popular for showrooms, high-end garages, and anyone who wants a truly unique floor.
- Concrete sealer: The most basic option. A penetrating or surface sealer protects the concrete from staining and moisture without adding a thick coating layer. Lower cost and lower durability compared to full epoxy or polyurea systems.
Why Surface Preparation Makes or Breaks a Floor Coating
The most common reason garage floor coatings peel, bubble, or fail within a year or two is poor surface preparation. Here is what proper prep looks like and why each step matters.
Diamond grinding the surface
We grind the concrete surface with a diamond-cup grinder to open the pores of the slab. This gives the coating something to grip. Rolling epoxy onto a smooth, unground surface is one of the top reasons coatings fail.
Crack and joint repair
Existing cracks and control joints need to be filled or addressed before coating. If they are not, they will telegraph through the new coating and the crack will eventually return to the surface.
Oil and contamination removal
Oil-stained concrete needs to be degreased and in some cases ground down before coating. Oil-contaminated areas will not accept a coating and those spots will peel within months.
Moisture testing
Concrete slabs that have moisture migrating up from below need to be addressed before coating. A moisture barrier primer or a breathable coating system is used in those situations.
Correct product mixing
Two-part epoxy systems need to be mixed in the right ratio and used within the correct pot life window. Improperly mixed coatings do not cure correctly and can remain tacky or peel.
Temperature and humidity control
Coatings applied in extreme heat or high humidity may not bond correctly. In Laredo summers, we schedule garage floor work during the right window and take steps to manage the environment during the application.
We do not cut corners on prep. Every coating job starts with a properly ground and cleaned slab. Get a free estimate on the Premier Laredo Concrete Contractor home page and we will assess your existing floor and walk you through the right coating option for your garage.
